Challenge

Texas real estate pre-licensing represented one of the largest potential markets but also one of the toughest. The Texas Real Estate Commission requires 180 hours of training and publicly ranks providers by student exam performance.

To succeed, the course had to be large enough to meet regulatory requirements, rigorous enough to produce high exam scores, and attractive enough to draw students away from established competitors.

Approach

The project balanced scale, quality, and market entry. Content from other courses was reused where appropriate, new material filled the gaps, and activities were designed to satisfy time requirements efficiently.

Quality standards were based on adult education research and Bloom's Taxonomy. Manual and automated review systems helped enforce those standards across the curriculum.

When TREC allowed online proctoring for mid-course exams, a custom online proctoring system was designed and developed quickly to create a market advantage.

Impact

The course reached top-five statewide performance, generated over $2 million in ARR, and the proctoring system later delivered a 400 percent ROI across adjacent pre-license programs.
